I have benefitted from my 1991 edition of Halleys for all these years. Age required larger print. In reviewing customer comments I concluded in error that the large print edition would also include the color pictures and maps. It doesn't. I suggest your description of the large print edition state that pics are still black and white pics & maps. Full disclosure is always better. I would probably have bought the large print edition anyway but I am disappointed that it isn't in color too. My misinterpretation of the customer comments on other updated editions. Please help us old folks out with full disclaimers where they exist.

This is a great reference for anyone interested in learning more about the Bible. Pictures are very helpful. I had to chuckle a bit, if this is the large print, I'm sure I would not be able to read the regular (small) print edition. Do yourself a favor and get the large print edition.

This book is a must have for anyone that teaches Bible, or simply wants to know what they are reading!!! I bought it in large print for my husband's uncle. He can't put it down! I have the regular print version myself. Both are exceptional! I do NOT like feel good Christian books and most Bible study books because I feel that mankind's opinion is expressed too freely and that the writer puts too much of their own opinions into those books. This book does not do that. While there are spiritual remarks occasionally, they are spot on with what the Bible is actually saying. The way this book is laid out is pretty much chapter by chapter...you read your Bible, then this book summarizes each chapter. There is an intro to each Bible book that gives the date it was written, the author, and what is going on at the time. It reads a lot like history at times. There are also other sections to this handbook that give history of the Western Church, the period between the testaments, etc. Buy this book!!!! You won't regret it!!!!

Halley's Is Great...But Be Careful! I have a 1971 small handbook that is just great, and with my eyes needing help these days, decided to get the large print addition. Thought it would be a word for word update with large print. Very glad I got it, but doing a comparison, the later version is NOT just like my 1971 version!! There have been really great new additions like new pictures, graphs, etc. but the text is very different!!! I am still glad I got the large print version, but I am holding onto my older copy as well, as I very much like what Halley had to say in the older version. Not sure who updated the large print version, but since Halley died in the mid sixties, I am pretty sure he had nothing to do with this version. It is still a nice work and is helpful in Bible Study.

Not the same as the original Halley's Bible Handbook. This version has been adapted to a pre-millenial point of view. Henry H. Halley would not have approved. Quite a disappointment when you are just looking for a larger print version of the originals.

Really nice and easy to read

I had an older version of this book. This time I got the large print and it has so much more. The one thing I didn't appreciate was the introduction has a very inappropriate statement concerning nonbelievers that needs to be eliminated.

Just what I was looking for. Easy to read and makes understanding bible passages that much easier!

Lots of of historical pictures and maps (some maps are hand-drawn) with relevant captions along with a lot of informative narrative.I just got back from a trip to Alaska and took the White Pass Railroad train trip from Skagway to Carcross. When I returned home, I ordered this book and two other Chilkoot Trail books based on that venture. This is easily the best of the three. I now wish that I had purchased and read it before making the trip.

While the content was exactly as expected, the format was difficult to read. It interspersed too many graphics with text, sometimes alternating pages. As a result, thoughts became literally disjointed. The graphics were good, the text was good, but combining them in this form made it challenging for me.

Good book....recipient likes it.

Just started using this journal after being in a bit of a funk at the start of this year. I researched many different journals but this was the only one that i felt was simple, that didn't make too many 'demands' on my time, that was straightforward, in short, exactly what I was looking for. It's a simple concept and I've only being doing it for a week but I find myself looking for things to be thankful for, find myself adding lines below the three provided and writing in the margins...all because I want to...

This is just what I was looking for. Cute design, motivational and inspirational quotes without being religion or bible-focused, short and sweet places to write. I could have used a regular notebook or journal but I did not want one like that. I want to jot stuff down without writing a lot. For people complaining about the repetitiveness: get some creativity flowing! Use stickers and washi to customize the pages to your liking! There’s a lot of potential here and the price can’t be beat.

It's really cute and had inspirational quotes for each day. The journal entry is writing down three things that you are thankful for each day. There are a few thought provoking entries: write about one person that you are truly grateful for knowing, write about one experience that you are grateful for that shaped who you are today, write about one place that you are thankful that you had the opportunity to visit and why, write about some of the ways that you can show your gratitude to others, and reflect on how journaling three things that you are thankful for a day has changed your life.

I love this book. Just looking at it makes me feel good lol! I have been filling it out daily since I received it. It puts me in a positive mood every morning.

I've been using my 'Good Days Start with Gratitude' journal for just over 6 months. I love the easy, 3 bullet-point practice. It has helped to pinpoint the good in my day without been stressful (not an avid writer to keep a free-form journal or diary). Love the quotes, and enjoy looking back at all the positive things happening on the day-to-day. Would highly recommend!

I’ve struggled with depression almost all my life and sometimes it’s hard to get out of the negative thoughts in your mind and look at the positives. Doing this everyday gives me a different perspective on life and lifts my mood.

I’m a huge journal fan and have many but this journal is so amazing and one of my faves! I keep it by my desk at work and in my purse and constant pull it out when I’m inspired to share moments of gratitude! This is such an important exercise - I wish more people understood how amazing it feels to show gratitude especially in moments when we need to feel inspired! Thank you so much for making this journal - it is one of my favorites!

Basically its samething every day I would recommend something more in depth if your purpose is to be inspired

I did prefer this book's straightforward formatting to the previous book. But . . .in my opinion, portions of the book are not age appropriate and overly graphic. I could MAYBE see giving this book to a 14 year-old child who is about to enter high school. However, there were a couple of issues I had with this book that really turned me away from it. The constant references to sexual activity being "pleasurable" and "feeling good" were a bit too much for my taste..And it is a running theme throughout this and the preceding book in the series. For example, this book discusses orgasm and both couples bodies "trembling." For an 11 year-old? Really? There are also detailed discussions on breast size (is bigger better?), oral sex, and incest. You be the judge. I am returning it in search for something a little less descriptive for an 11/12 year-old, where the authors aren't discussing "pleasure" on every other page. (Geez, enough already - I get it, but you go overboard and then you tell them to wait?)

I appreciate the effort. However, as my husband put it, this is somewhat like pornography for children. I purchased two of the books in the series, and found the material to be inappropriate, and at times too graphic. My teens do not need a description of oral sex, in order to know that it constitutes sexual intimacy outside of marriage. And my 10 year old does not need to know that an adult (pedophile) derives pleasure from touching a child's genitalia. Teaching children healthy physical boundaries should be the emphasis, without disturbing them.

I have all 4 books (The Story of Me, Before I Was Born, What's the Big Deal, and Facing the Facts) I have a 12, 10, and 5 year old. I have read books 1 & 2 to all 3 children. I gave my older child book 3 to read himself and will give him book 4 when I feel he is ready. I like knowing I am giving them the tools they need to live in this world. I looked through many books before deciding on this set. I am happy with these 4 books and recommend them if you are looking for information based on Christian beliefs.

Great book and was recommend by pastor. I would read it first and leave some stuff out depending on how mature your child is. Fantastic book an uses scripture and science.

This book was very helpful in having the "talk" It is written from a biblical perspective and explains God's design for sex. Would definitely recommend this book.

GREAT Christian-based series of books to teach the "facts of life" to children in an informative, non-intimidating way.

So thankful for this book. I bought this one and the level below it as well. It explains things in a way a child can understand without making it awkward for the both the child and parent. My favorite part is that it includes why waiting is so important. And why God cares about it.

My son was getting very curious and this book satisfied all of his questions when I sat down and had "the talk" with him.

I bought the 2007 edition in 2011 thinking to save money. I found the information so dated to be useless for planning my vacation. At least 70% of the websites listed no longer exist. Current prices verified by phone are almost DOUBLE those quoted in the book.Also, instead of covering all the Bahamas islands, it lists only the half-dozen most popular locations, with the vast majority of the pages spent on New Providence (Nassau/Paradise Island) and Grand Bahama (Lucaya/Freeport). Those planning to visit Out Islands would be better served with another book.

I have always trusted and loved the travel for Dummies books. They are full of so much helpful information in a very concise format that is quick and easy to read. I always purchase one before I travel and have never been disappointed.My only suggestion would be to make sure you have a current version as some things do change over time at your destination.

I love to thoroughly research and plan vacations, gleaning recommendations and experiences from as many independent sources as possible. Therefore, I ordered BOTH Frommer's Bahamas 2007 and Bahamas for Dummies to get two different opinions. Bahamas for Dummies repeats Frommer's hotel and restaurant recommendations WORD-FOR-WORD. The Dummies who wrote this book obviously did NO independent research of their own. In fact in turns out Wiley published both books. The only redeeming feature is the cute little post-it flags, that I can stick inside my Frommers guide book!

This is a very helpful book! It contains lots of good info about the Bahamas that I wouldn't have know otherwise.

I found the guide had a lot of useful information about the best hotels, restaurants and tours. This is exactly the information I needed. It also had a great section on the pro's and con's of each major island. This was helpful in figuring out where I wanted to vacation. I have read a lot of information on the web, and frommer's website, but I found this guide to have it organized more efficiently and it is more comprehensive. It was an easy and fun read and also had information on the history of the Bahamas. I really enjoyed it and it helped with my vacation planning.

I thought this was a great effort to present the true Bahamas, but unfortunately, there are some inaccuracies that seem to confuse The Bahamas with other countries in the West Indies, particularly in referring to the language. Bahamians would never refer to their dialect as patois. (that's Jamaica and other countries). Bahamians just call their English dialect "Bahamian dialect". And some of the words are not in general use as stated, e.g. nyam is Jamaican, and bobo, if used, more usually refers to Rastas, not morons.

This poor review is for the digital book only.DO NOT BUY THE DIGITAL OR KINDLE VERSION. I was so disappointed to find out this book was a plain old PDF, which is a real pain in the butt to read on a screen device. You can't search, don't have fluid margins, can't increase the font size or change to night mode, etc.Huge disappointment in that regard, but the content in the book itself is wonderful. I recommend purchasing it in old-fashioned paperback.

A well-written and engaging book that, while focused on game design, provides insights far beyond the world of game design and is full of useful advice for anyone designing anything.The book guides the reader through the entire design process, starting with discussing the designer's ultimate objective (to create an experience); continuing through understanding the elements that comprise games, addressing the needs of players, exploring the fundamental types of game mechanics, developing game worlds; and concluding with how to deal with clients, how to pitch a game, and how games transform their audiences.Along the way, the author present a series of 100 "lenses" through which designers can focus on specific aspects of their design. Each lens provides a series of questions that help designers stay on track during the course of their design. The author also sells a card set called "A Deck of Lenses" which present these lenses with illustrations [...] The deck of lenses is also available as an smart phone/tablet app [...]As I noted above, many of the concepts in this book can be applied to not only game design, but also provide insights that can be applied to other fields as well. I'm a big fan of Walt Disney Imagineering, and found that many of the design principles in this book are the same principles used by the Imagineers in the design of Disney theme parks. Based on the author's background (Jesse Schell is a former Imagineer), this wasn't too big a surprise, but I still find the parallels worth noting.I highly recommend this book to anyone working in the game industry, as well as anyone interested in design in general. You'll be glad you added this book to your library.

This book is awesome. I'm just a beginner studying Gaming Design and this works for me. It works a lot on concepts, induces some exercises and self-criticizing about how to think when creating content. Goes much more theoretical than practical so if you need to learn about Coding, this is not your book. Expect reading a lot about every type possible of "game", not only about the electronic-modern type, but also card-game, story-telling game, etc.

Fantastically good book on game design. This is not, however, a beginner book, in my opinion. This is definitely something to read if you've already started designing a game, or have some experience in game design. Regardless, it carries with it quite a bit of good advice and theory on many aspects of making games. Truly a book on the art (and craft) of game design.This book goes really well with the book "Challenges for Game Designers" by Brenda (Braithwaite)Romero and Ian Schreiber.

I am an independent game developer, And this is one of my favorites books ever. Schell teaches how to develop a game from 0 to end. It is an easy reading and I was amazed at the improvements of my own games. 5 stars review absolutely

I had a notion of designing a game. This book was recommended somewhere, I don't remember where. I read an excerpt and it seemed to offer up some good information, and a good place to start to get an overview of what is involved.Upon reading it, I was blown away. Schell covers everything, quite literally everything. I found that the lenses he reveals are useful regardless of what you're doing. I am an in-house designer for a major corporation and can readily see how the topics covered can help in my "day job", both internally to working with the teams in the company, but also in addressing our customers and their needs.You won't get the technical "how to code something" information, or algorithms or strategies. You will get the underlying principles and guidance for building pretty much any project, games or otherwise.Thank you for publishing this Mr. Schell.

I was just reading through them when I first got it and it already had an effect on clarifying my image of how I'm going to design and build my game. So I would say it's worth it. No I don't have the book, it's not necessary if you're not into heavy educational books which I'm not.

An absolutely fantastic book to read even if you're not in the field of game design. There are so many parallels that can be drawn into other industries. The companion mobile app is amazing as well. VERY highly recommended.

Good book. Doing my certification in 2 weeks. Using only this . Wish me luck.Update:I'm certified phlebotomist. :)

I needed this book for a phlebotomy course and we found several errors- pretty big ones too. The biggest one that comes to mind is that book said that UA tests/ tubes go to the Hematology Department, which is just incorrect. There were other errors as well, such as tube labeling and tests run on different tubes.

I needed this for my phlebotomy class and it had all the information I needed and more. The setup was nice and the questions at the end of the chapter were very helpful. I passed my ASCP boards with double what I needed!

I initially bought this for my friend who is pursuing her license/certification as a Phlebotomist and she is doing very well in her classes. She says that the book is in good condition and that there are no missing pages which is comforting to know since it was sent to her house and not mine.She says that the information is up to date and that she is doing well. Unsure if that's cause of her studying capabilities AND this book. Or if it's just this book.

This book was very helpful while i was going to school. Used it to study for my exam as well which I passed with flying colors.

Honestly I was skeptical on puchasing this book due previous reviews but I bought a new not used book. It is great book and will help you succeed in your class. It really does have more info than what you will need, it has an access code for online help and it comes a quick study card for order of draw.

The book gives good information but if you’re studying for the ASCP exam idk you’re probably better off getting their study material. I know it’s pricey but the questions they ask on the exam are like nothing from this book. I still passed but I didn’t feel confident once I started the actual exam.
