This was a good story but I think the resolutions should've played out not been brushed over and ignored or have a brief sentence in the epilogue. When Will accused Charlotted of backsliding and lying to him when she denied it. There should've been a scene where he apologize to her. He's right. There should be trust. Also trust in knowing when someone you love is lying. I understand why he thought what he did but if he couldn't tell she was telling the truth then he should've apologized to her when the truth came out. Then there was the reunion with Tess and Charlotte. Again Tess believed the lies and that Charlotte had backslid. Again there was only a brief sentence of a reunion in the epilogue when the story made a big deal about their tenuous relationship. A scene of where Tess learned the truth and came to her mother for a talk when the doc was leaving would've been nice. Not to mention the mob scene of the people in town where it was all of a sudden dropped and nothing was done. Where was the resolution there?I like epilogues in stories and prefer them to exist, but they shouldn't be used to avoid telling the story that needs told.Other than the resolutions to the stories in the book this was a good story. I did like Will for Charlotte.
I loved revisiting characters in Silverpines. There were a few surprises in this book that I really enjoyed. I found the topic of drug addiction unusual yet inspiring and realistic. It was good to see they not everyone is perfect.
Well-developed characters are one of the trademarks of this series and this book carries on that tradition. Charlotte and Will are both struggling. As a reader I saw their weaknesses and strengths. There were times I wanted to shout at Charlotte, I was just so engaged with the story. There is a mystery and great action as well as a chance to revisit other characters in the series. The book can be read as a stand-alone novel, but I recommend at least reading Wanted Gravedigger from the series before this one to make reading this one so much more fun. This is a clean and satisfying romance that offers so much more than merely a timid, virginal 18 year old heroine and a strong and always triumphant hero. This book has all the grittiness of life and its struggles but still gives the reader a happily ever after.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. And I really liked this book. It's a book that is very easy for me to recomend. It shows a tender love story that has a rough road to follow. Both Will and Charlotte are recovering addicts, Charlene newer through recovery and it gets so hard for her. I really like how this book shows that whether ever so many years or now, some things don't change, like addiction and what people have to go through to dig themselves out and stay clean. The only thing that does change is the drug if the era.Charlotte and Will need eachother in every way. Besides their age difference, there is no difference in their need for eachother. Truely a wonderful book.
When I read this book Charlotte had a bad drug problem she remembers every day seconds and weeks how she was. Will has been there for her although he once had a drug problem together they can make it. drugs still is all around you just like it was for Will and Charlotte sometime I think it only exist in our time but reading books I realized they also have problems with it. Very well written would highly recommend this book
Charlotte and Will have both battled addiction and are now on the side of recovery. But regaining trust and remaining sober aren’t always easy. And neither is accepting love when you’re an older woman and he’s a much younger man. A well written visit to the beloved Silverpines.
What a great book about addiction and redemption. The characters were all great and I could feel the community they created. Sterling did a great job at pulling me into the story. Highly recommend!
I have enjoyed the entire series thus far. Kudos to the ensemble of writers and the continuity of all of the stories. This book struck a cord for me. Addressing the long standing problems of drug addiction. There is nothing new under the sun. There is nothing good about addiction; there is no safe levels in which you can dabble.
