The Voyager program has certainly not received the attention of the Apollo program, but in many ways this is a program that is only there is you get interested and find out how amazing the whole thing is.I recently saw a PBS documentary where the author was interviewed and wanted to check out this book as a result. I am very glad I did. This is a history, but it isn't written in a straightforward fashion with the beginning of the program and culminating in what exactly since the problem is Voyager is still a viable operating program ( and recently the JPL - Jet Propulsion Laboratory - fired up thrusters that hadn't been activated in 37 years and corrected a slight deviation in attitude for this amazing machine) so there isn't an end with splashdown. But I love how the author did this and the narrative is so well done I read the whole thing through.Fascinating stuff. What is amazing is how the technology of 1975 essentially is out there and still produced a viable machine. Let that sink in that the program was able to proceed being able to fly-by planets like Jupiter and Neptune using a rare line-up of planets using low band technology that still has provided tremendous photographs and images, and it in a void of space beyond our system,Amazing stuff herein. Well worth reading.

'The Interstellar Age' is an account of the Voyager mission through the eyes of the author, Jim Bell. There is information in the book about Bell's education and early times in the planetary science field, and there is mention of many other individuals who were associated with the Voyager program. The first few chapters are essentially a historical introduction to the project, as well as discussions of Bell's early days. The middle of the book investigates the Voyagers individual visits to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune (the latter two were only visited by Voyager 2). The last section talks about the future of the program, now that over 25 years have passed since the last planetary encounter with Neptune.All in all, the book is interesting, easily readable, and packed with a lot of great material about the Voyager program. But this is not a book which is just about Voyager - rather, it is a book about this program through the eyes of the author and there is a lot of autobiographical material contained within the book. At time, I hoped there could be some more detail about what the Voyagers actually saw when they visited the planets. It also felt like there was a great deal of material on the moons of the planets at the expense of the planetary material itself.I'm not sure if there are other good books about the Voyager program out there, so this is a good option if you want to learn about the program. Despite the less than optimal coverage of the mission and perhaps over-reliance on the author's personal experiences, the book is worth the read.

This is the story of the Voyager robotic missions to the outer planets. This book details many of the people and processes that made the mission a success. From the gravity assists to the science and photographs this story is a great example of overcoming many challenges and reaping the benefits of a job well done.

Excellent book, much research went into the book and it is accurate, read by my husband Carl who is retired engineer part of space history at JPL.

Wonderful book, good combination of history science and the human element. I just wish it had a little bit more colored pictures from the Voyager mission to illustrate certain things, but of course such pictures are at a premium, and cost a pretty penny.

A must read for anyone interested in space, NASA, and of course, the Voyager missions. Very well written and engaging. His excitement made me want to be a part of everything he describes watching and doing as either a scientist or even just an observer during the Voyager project. Although the Voyager spacecraft are not as sophisticated as newer probes, the sheer length and breadth of their journeys and discoveries make them true monuments of human achievement.

The Interstellar Age takes us into space with the Voyagers 1 and 2. It provides a detailed and encouraging tale of the processes involved in space exploration. The sample I read of Bell's book was much more nonscientific and, therefore, more easily understood than other sections of the book. The terminology gets a bit much in places. Overall, extremely informative.

I'm tired of reading social media books that get readers all fired up about the value, reach and power of using social media -- but never go beyond that and actually teach them how to do it.That's why I liked this book so much. It does a nice job of blending the why/what with the how. There are very easy to follow action steps that bridge the "I think this would be good for my business" to "I now know what to do to take advantage of this for my business."

This book really taught how to get your product out there and be able to catch the attention of customers using social media I can find fault with this, but it's minor. For example, if I had written the section on Social Bookmarking, Very useful information on being able to take advantage of the marketing opportunities these days. Slydell speaks clearly, with authority and projects energy as he covers the material.

I have a soft spot for Sophie Kinsella her writing is so easy and she always makes me laugh. I confess I read this back in September 2013 - as per my verified purchase! However the review has been sitting in my drafts for such a long time I thought I best re-read it again. Well it is just as enchanting, fun, ridiculous, beautiful as it was the first time.The story goes an up and coming attorney finds herself suddenly out of a job, she has a meltdown and then finds another job... as a housekeeper. Never mind that she is totally clueless as to any kind of domestic engineering. But how hard could this be right?This book frequently reads like episodes of an old sitcom with masses of slap stick comedy through out. Our undomesticated Goddess - Samantha, was easy to identify with and root for. The story line was fast paced without being frantic or hard to connect with emotionally. And the supporting characters played their respective roles well as Samantha moves from ambitious attorney to harried housekeeper. There is necessary romance and some soul searching as Samantha finds her footing in the the work-a-day world.If you're looking for a light, feel-good chick-lit - this fills the bill very nicely.I am a verified purchaser in Australia

Fantastic book! It was a little slow getting into and a little silly. But by page 100 I was laughing out loud - and I don’t do that in books! Some twists at the end, but carries a good message about life and what you want to get out of it - what makes you YOU! I’m so glad my book club recommended this book!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I do have to say I expected the "surprise turn", but that did not ruin the story at all. I don't read many romancy type books, but I really like this one and will look up others by this author. One problem I noticed here and there were words missing from sentences; a verb here, pronouns there, articles there. You end up having to read the sentence again for it to make sense, but it wasn't often enough to ruin the story. I also don't think this is a proofreader problem. I've noticed it fairly often lately in widely different books and I get the impression that it may happen when the book is converted into an e-book. It is annoying, but the story was fun regardless.

I really enjoy the situations that Kinsella develops. This book is no different. The inner monologue of her heroines is always so much fun as are the way she portrays the side characters. The love interest in this one was probably the best yet. I could always use a little more interaction between the love interests in her stories but that just means she writes it so well. The ending of this book had me tearing up and cheering. Sorry to see this one end.

I liked this book and was so happy to see Samantha come to her senses and end up with a great guy. The whole story is pretty funny though when you envision her messing up sandwiches and burning food. I thought there was going to be some huge debacle behind where the Geiger's got their money bc that still wasn't clear on that. They just didn't seem like the type who were refined enough to have that kind of money, lol. It was awesome that the Geiger's niece got an attitude adjustment in the end when she found out who Samantha really was - loved that! Overall a super fun read and kept my interest.....I'm considering trolling through some nearby neighborhoods looking for my Nathaniel! LOL!

This was the first book by Sophie Kinsella that I read and I loved it! It made me laugh out loud and I really loved the story. If you're looking for a satisfying and enjoyable chick lit book, I highly recommend this one. There are a few f-bombs and some PG romantic moments but the overall experience was charming and great.

I laughed out loud at so many parts of The Undomestic Goddess that I would receive stares if I were reading in public. But I couldn't help myself! Sophie Kinsella brought her lead protagonist, Samantha Sweeting to life. Her interior monologue was utterly amusing. I was surprised to be able to identify with Samantha so easily.Samantha Sweeting, high power attorney find herself cleaning houses despite the fact that she isn't domestic... and she's surprisingly happy about her new life. Although by about page 30 you know exactly how this book is going to end, I enjoyed reading it very much. Ms. Kinsella weaves an amusing tale with likeable characters. There were a few parts where you might have to suspend your disbelief, but it is a fun, light fiction book full of laughs so this didn't bother me. I liked the fact that although it's chick-lit and it's described as a romance, there is just enough romance to add to the story without being overbearing, sickly sweet or off topic. Well done, Ms. Kinsella!
