As close to the actual autographs as one can get, thanks to the incredible work of Bruce Metzger. This is what the great Orthodox Christian churches use when the Greek books are not readily available (outside of the Divine Liturgy -- for studying Holy Scripture).

I enjoy my compact zippered RSV Bible so much that I wanted a full sized edition. I decided on the Oxford Annotated Bible. The print is 10 point. It is very clear and readable. This Bible is medium sized and "just right" for me. The leather smells really good. It actually smells better than some of my premium Bibles.I enjoy the RSV translation because its literal, trustworthy and understandable. I'm at the age where I cannot see the point in having a literal Bible that I struggle to comprehend. I would like to understand what I'm reading the first time that I read it. And I don't want to question if its accurate or not. Its possible to have a trustworthy Bible that is readable and the RSV is an example of that. It is written on the middle school level.This edition contains the Apocrypha. Its in the back of the Bible. While I don't consider the Apocrypha to be on the same level as Scripture I do like to know what people are talking about when they reference it in different commentaries, etc. So its good to have.Overall this is a terrific Bible and for the price its a bargain. I will likely purchase another one for future use after I wear this one out.

As far as translations go its probably the best out there.I wouldn't hesitate to put the RSV up their with the best translation into any modern language from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek. Moreover its truly a bible in the original spirit of the word (bible originally means something like library or collection of books); So the RSV is as universal as any bible ever, since its found wide acceptance not only with mainline Protestants and Roman Catholics, but also with Orthodox Christians. And not only among the laity, but among Clergy and Scholars. And..for our Evangelical readers; indeed, the RSV is the parent tr of the popular ESV; I would say that the Greek Old Testament books more commonly refered to as Apocrypha or Deutro Canonical, would be a refreshing worthwhile treat to those not familiar with those valuable books, especially Sirach but also the other books, as one reads these its hard to imagine why some don't consider these books canonical. If its just a matter of these not being of Hebrew origin, I believe there's evidence of particularly Hebrew fragments partiuclarly for Sirach. The only thing I would say that doesn't appeal to me, is that these "apocrypha" are on a section on the back after the NT even the relevant essays and explanatory materials. It would have been fitting to put them in between the OT and NT. To me that would have made them seem more a part of the OT. In my mind these books are part of the Old Testament cannon. But oh well, nothing is perfect, so I consider that qualm as superficial..This handsome Oxford Edition is well made, the red binding is a nice conservative shade of red almost "cardinal" the pages are thin but durable. Its actually not bulky at all especially when one considers its a study bible. it's actually compact and i would say is the I phone 5 of bibles. it feels good to hold. the font is good, and will appeal too young or old or tired eyes. the pages even smell good, reminds me of Church and Candles! its a study bible but the Editors (most seem to be IV leaguers) don't wear their religious ideas on their sleeves, yet one does detect a hint of their christian faith and reverence. Importantly, the text is continuous without bold paragraph titles so its free flowing as i imagine the originals were..I don't like popular paragraph titles or section titles for 3 reasons 1) they seem to make you focus on a particular point or theme in that section and we may miss out on other equally insightful ones, 2)the poetry or story seems choppy or interrupted and 3) i think the ancient authors intended for the text to flow in most cases. its so refreshing like reading anew. The original RSV by Thomas Nelson shares this quality with this Oxford Edition.All in all happy with this Edition. One will never really need to buy another bible. It may not be ideal or perfect for all readers, some prefer more devotional bibles, some more scholarly, However, nothing in life ever perfectly fits our ideal, and this edition is full of benefits. and for the price here on Amazon, I would say its a bargain. I remember seeing these at the book store a few years ago for $50 to $60 dollars. I hope this review helps, its the least I can do for the translators of this very poetic and worthy book and also for Oxford publishers.

The layout and words are as expected and this is my favorite version of the Christian bible. However the pages are so super thin in this one that its impossible to turn them without wrinkling or damaging. Sorry I chose it and will be replacing with a sturdier printing.

After years of using the NRSV, I decided to go back to the RSV which is somewhat more literal. An additional appeal to this Bible is that it is somewhat smaller and less bulky than the leather bound NRSV that I have been carrying around. The downside to going back to this RSV is that the annotations are not as up to date as those in the NRSV, and the RSV does not incorporate those texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls that you find in the NRSV. Overall, though, I like this Bible very much.

Contrary to the product description this map was NOT printed on water resistant paper. I actually fount the print and paper quality to be extremely low, comparable to free maps you get from a kiosk. Content is OK. I would have liked to distances on the charted routes. between waypoints. It would have made planning a lot easier. This map would be right priced at ~$6.99 -> not almost double.

Content itself of the chart and photos is fantastic. However, it comes folded quite strangely (even for a map) and it is NOT waterproof as advertised. I set it in some condensation from a drink and the top layer with the print on it basically just wiped off where it got wet. At the price, I feel it should be more durable. After using it for a few days it was basically tattered and falling apart.

map did not go into the detail I was looking for.

Missing half of St. Thomas... hello? Good for the BVI, but not even close to a complete map. Look elsewhere as I am doing right now.

I would highly recommend this book to both vets and anyone interested in stories of passionate men who fought for their freedom.

Here you see the implementation of training, discipline, common sense, valor, bravado, and a dedication to the mission in complete harmony. This in a nutshell are the essential ingredients which contribute to mission accomplishment!

This is the best book I have read about the fighting in Iraq. It tells a straight forward story of a units time in Iraq. It tells about what they were able to do to help the situation and also what they couldn’t do. You are connected to the individuals in the story and are with them before and after the battles. First of all to put things in context, I am about an intermediate to advanced player, a music major about 30 years ago in my college days and still play in several bands on other instruments, but just an average sight reader on piano. I really like show tunes and I thought they would be a good vehicle to improve my sight reading. I have several books of the Reader's Digest series and some of them have show tunes and jazz standards so i thought this book would just be a repeat of those arrangements, but they are not. This book has arrangements that are more professional sounding with more and better chord substitutions, intros and endings than the other books, so I would classify these arrangements as slightly more advanced than the arrangements than in the other Readers Digest books. But to put put it into context, these arrangments are not as advanced as say in the Advanced Piano solos book by Tom Roed, which by the way are great. I would buy this book.

This Songbook has plenty of show tunes from times past up to fairly recently. Many of them are not familiar to me, but then again, I have most of the better-known show tunes in an earlier edition of a Readers Digest Songbook. At any rate, the arrangements are challenging but not extremely difficult - and they are good sight reading practice for me!

Who doesn't enjoy the timeless tunes from Broadway? This is yet another wonderful addition to my "Reader's Digest Songbook" collection. I believe I have all but four books published. I play the pipe organ at church, and the electronic organ, piano and keyboard for community get-togethers, senior centers and nursing homes, etc. These books are my "go to" when preparing a program in need of patriotic, sacred, classical, old standard and sing-a-long tunes. The arrangements are clear and concise, never boring, all easily prepared and memorized for performance in a minimal amount of time.

A classic book with well edited tunes. Nice page turn & pages lay flat, cord symbols and easy to read lyrics and notes. Also nice story about each show tune. I've been playing the Reader's Digest piano books for 30 years and this volume completes my collection of all 12!

So happy with this purchase! Awesome interesting arrangements by Dan Fox, now 81 and leading his jazz band playing 20s and 30s jazz . 90 famous songs with great chord progressions, interesting rhythms, and embellishments. Not too easy and not too hard.Enough good music with exciting arrangements to keep you interested for a long, long time. It's fun to see where one of his chord progressions will lead you. Some of these songs I'd forgotten about and playing them again is like finding old friends, I stumbled on to my first Readers Digest songbook, arranged by Dan Fox, at a garage sale a few months ago. I've enjoyed his arrangements so much I looked for them here at Amazon and was elated to find more. Though listed as "good condition" they seem like new.

This book contains some pieces that are hard to find. I enjoy them, and they are written large enough that I can see the notes and the words. The spiral binding works very well for turning pages.

I love all of the Readers' Digest music books. They sit well on the piano. The hard covers and wire binding are great. The arrangements are fun, sound great and are not too difficult to play. And you get a lot of wonderful tunes with a bit of history for each at a terrific price. Copying songs on the internet costs $4-$6 each. What a deal!

I love these Reader's Digest books. They are easy to play, they sound beautifully written and they have gone on to playing what they want to play. These books give encouragement to my students and to my children. I'm so glad I purchased these books. I have a large stack of them beside my piano and a stack on my piano. Wonderful, educational and great sounding lyrics!

I was born on The Rock, but we moved away when I was an infant. But as a youth I was fortunate enough to have had the privilege of spending my summers with my grandmother in a small fishing village on Newfoundland's southwest coast. It was what a troubled youth raised in the suburbs of New York city needed to give balance to his life.I often think of those summers and long to be there, but, sad to say, circumstances prevent it.Farley Mowat, through his book, has brought to life many long forgotten memories of how wonderful it was sharing a few weeks each year with the unforgettable characters of Newfoundland.I guess the best critique I can offer for The Boat Who Wouldn't Float is in a letter I wrote to my 82 year old Aunt, who still lives in my grandmother's house overlooking St. George's bay;"Sorry I missed your call, Auntie. If you sense that Newfoundland's been on my mind you'd be right.Have you ever heard of Farley Mowat? I understand he's one of Canada's most celebrated authors. I'm currently reading his book The Boat Who Wouldn't Float. I don't think I've enjoyed reading anything as much in ages. He literally transports me to Newfoundland and is making me miserably homesick. His vivid descriptions of the people and their customs, their hard-scrabble lives, the picturesque fishing villages, and the history surrounding it all thoroughly entertains. I'll be sad when I run out of pages to turn. Fortunately, he's written a few more books about The Rock that will no doubt make me equally miserable. Think I'll go and read a couple more chapters right now..."

Farley Mowat is one of the most underrated and brilliant writers you will EVER encounter. Once you get into one of his books, you will look for more of his writings. The Boat... exposed his incredible humor, as will The Dog Who Wouldn't Be.Never Cry Wolf, People of the Deer, A Whale for the Killing, et al, will show you the intensity and depth of his observations and feelings regarding the ineptitude of Government Bureaucrats. He stands head and shoulders over the general mundane "naturalists", who are wont to skew their writings to advance an agenda. He deals only in FACTS, and sometimes it does not speak well of our so-called "intelligent humanity".Grey Seas Under, and The Serpents Coil will keep you glued to the books, right to the end. This book had me laughing most of the time. He found some unusual ways to describe the process of stuffing the hull with things like mud, so that the hull wouldn't let quite as much ocean in.... I'll never line up whiskey bottles, either, after reading this book- just one scene, but I was laughing and crying just the same...

Enjoyed the book immensely. Reads very easily in a funny style that makes a person feel good to interact with. Did not like that the book vendor put their unremovable inventory sticker on the front cover directly over the dog's face, which I ended up tearing off with the stickum after I had to scratch it away when the sticker failed to just peel, so I had to re-draw it with a sharpie as this was a gift. They kindly offered a refund. Anyone who puts books into the world is a hero, but I'd much rather have heard that they'll use better stickers or at least be more judicious about where they're placed going forward.

This is my favorite book of all time. Too funny!

I have to say that I found the first few chapters hard to take and if this was my first Mowat book I would have thought that he was insane. I don't want to spoil the story so I won't describe why I felt so. However, the book picks up once the voyage begins and Mowat's descriptions of nature (weather, sea, terrain)are unsurpassed. He does good descriptions of the characters that he encounters, as well. Still one of my favorite authors.My understanding is that in later books he becomes disillusioned with the Newfoundlanders and other local types.

I had actually read this book before, but had loaned my copy to someone and it was never returned. I enjoyed the re-read just as much as the first go-through! Farley Mowat is a first-class writer with a marvelous sense of how to use words for maximum impact and complete hilarity! Late teens and adults would love this book. It's a bit too complex for younger teens although there is no foul language or "situations" that would be improper.

I have read this book and loved it. It made me laugh out loud. Maybe that's because I have owned sail boats for years and could relate. I bought this copy for a birthday present for a sailor who now has no boat.

I truly love this book that teaches one how to go about the art of choreography including those using wheelchairs! This book makes choreographers and dancers aware of how to train and prepare for routines that are built around dancers who are "different" in other ways, as well. It is an important addition to the curriculum of dance study and of those seeking to teach dance or to teach in special education, where dance can be a form of therapy and skill development.

recommended to all of those dance researches.. specially good for dance majors enrolled in an university as undergrads or teachers/choreographers that are looking for notes that question dance parameters.

great book

An essential read for the socially concerned dance lover. This book navigates a tricky path that follows the dancing body through subjectivism and objectivism, and the identities that it cannot escape. Albright delicately manages to show how lines of gender, race, form, ability and other identities can be created and crossed by dances and the bodies that dance them. Recommended to choreographers, dancers, dance watchers and anyone who is interested in social constructs of identity.

I felt some type of connection to this book as I passed it in the shop. I have been a dance teacher for 13 years, and I have never thought to use dance as Ms. Albright has. Her section on Sex in Dance got many more students to join my class. Ms. Albright is an amazing author and some day I wish to see her dance. Her ideas are on dance are brilliant and artistic. This book has changed my life as a person, artist, but mostly as a dancer.
